Self REflection

1) Did this course meet your expectations? Explain?
This course had met my expectations, beforing entering the course I was super nervous because although I was familiar with working on the computer I was not good with different softwares, taking this course has introduced me to many softwares and websites that I can use in my future classroom. Overall, it was fun and great!


2) Why do you think this course should be required for all ED majors?
I think it should be offered to ED majors because technology is continually changing and improving this course introduces future teachers many possibly ways to integrate technology in the classroom. It should be a great class for ED majors because by the time they have completed the course they should be familiar with using a computer or any other technology in their classroom to improve student learning.

3) How will you implement technology into your future classroom?
I would implement technology as much as I can. I will give my student an opportunity to explore and use a computer. I would also have the students use different webistes and software to do class projects or research. I would try as much as possible to have them explore the world through the internet, since most students will not have a chance to leave the island :( From something as simple as having them set-up a powerpoint presentation or creating a slide show I will integrate technology with other subjects.

Overall the class was great! I learned so much from the short time we spend in class. If it was not for this course I will have never been exposed to the many websites and software that are free and availabe to all.

Video Editing presentation

Our group decided to produce a puppet show video so that we can be able to access and use it in the future. We decided to present "The boy who cried lion" (wolf, we did not have a cut-out for a wolf so used lion instead) Meeting and making the puppets was crazy, it took a lot of prepping but we finished, The best part was recording we had a blast, there was so much bloppers that we wanted to add. The hardest part was uploading to the different websites we had a hard time doing that and so at the end we just edited and published it using the software "moviemaker" it was fun and I hope that in the future we could actually edit using the sites. Overall I liked the project and will definitely use it in my class, since children have a better imagination and can create cute nice video productions.

Weebly

This assignment for last week was to create a professional portfolio using a website called weebly, Mr. J gave us several tabs to include and the rest was up to us. I liked this assignment because it gave me the oppurtunity to reflect on my accomplishments and re think my goals. Using the weebly software was fun, and interesting however the one thing that I disliked was the loading time there was several times when it took more than 20 minutes to load so it was frustrating but overall I liked the software because it was easy to work with. I would say that with a webpage you can do so much and personalize it whereas a blog can do the same but it takes more processing and inputting to get it to the way you want it to look. I would definetly use it in my classroom as a way for my students to showcase themselves and what they have completed from the beginning of the class to the end. By doing that they can showcase what they have and take it with them even after the school year ends.

Elluminate Live

Our experience with Elluminate Live was fun and crazy! It was crazy because there was a delay and so after a while I got a migraine. I loved how we were able to communicate with Maryanne Campo and Bree Reynolds and listen to them present. Elluminate live is a great way to have different presenters around the world present to the class . the worst thing about it was there was so much going on like people chatting ;) drawing on the board and presenters speaking so it became crazy. I would surely use it im my class to expose my students to distant learning as well as a way to introduce them to people from around the world

working with slideshare was super fun! I was able to create a powerpoint then upload it and now its available for everyone to see!

I liked how uploading was super fast but the only problem was we couldn't actually make the powerpoint using the site even though they great design templates and layouts!

I would use this in my class for students to share powerpoint with their peers or as a way for students to turn in powerpoint projects to me

Sorting special events with timelines

Today we had fun making timelines with a timeline generator on teach-nology.com . Although it was very limited we were able to create our timelines, I had to re-do my timeline and make it in order because it doesn't do it for you but overall it was great I liked the different layouts.
I would use timeline activities in my classroom for almost every subject, this is one cool way to have them practice order. I would also use it as an introduction for the course when they share important events in their lives.
